Midtown Houston Hispanic Heritage Month

Growing up in Peru I always had a special place in my heart for the multicolored outfits that the indigenous women of the Andes wore, and that's what inspired me in this design. As I researched the outfits of other cultures in the Latin American Diaspora, I saw many similarities and techniques most likely passed down through the ages thanks to the rich cultures and histories of pre-colonial civilizations. This design for the Midtown sign, "Textiles de Nuestras Tierras"(Textiles from Our Lands) showcases different textile techniques and designs from across the Americas; the Loom-weaved textiles techniques and embroidery that is emblematic of so many different Hispanic cultures across the continents are showcased here with reverence and pride.
